Founded in 1958 by Bill Putnam Sr., Universal Audio has been synonymous with innovative recording products since its inception. A favorite engineer of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and more, the late Bill Putnam Sr. was a passionate innovator who is widely regarded as the father of modern recording — with many of his legendary studio and equipment designs still in use today.

Specifically, Putnam was the inventor of the modern recording console, the multi-band audio equalizer, and the vocal booth, and he was the first engineer to use artificial reverberation in commercial recording. Alongside his friend Les Paul, Putnam was also involved in the early development of stereophonic recording.

Putnam, a natural entrepreneur, started three audio product companies during his long career: Universal Audio, Studio Electronics, and UREI. All three companies built equipment that remains widely used decades after their introduction, including the ubiquitous LA-2A and 1176 compressors, and the 610 tube recording console. The 610 console in particular stands as one of the most beloved designs in audio history, used to record everyone from Sinatra to the Beach Boys to Van Halen’s eponymous debut.

The Universal Audio 4-710d is a boutique quality, four-channel microphone/line preamplifier with unique tube and solid-state tone blending capabilities - perfect for a wide range of microphone and instrument sources. This versatile multi-channel preamp offers selectable 1176-style compression circuitry on each channel, plus four additional line inputs feeding eight channels of pristine analog-to-digital conversion. Building upon UA's classic analog design approach, combined with smart modern features, the 4-710d is the most flexible preamp in the UA lineup.

Erstens war das Teil bei MusiX an Lager. Zweitens zu einem Preis der weit günstiger war als aus unserem Nachbarland mit Lieferfristen von 4-5 Monaten.
Nebst den 4 Mikrofoneingängen besitzt der Preamp 4 zusätzliche Line Eingänge die dieselben hochwertigen Digitalwandler besitzen, mit einer Samplingrate bis zu 192kHz. Das sind dann 8 ADAT Ausgänge mit denen ich mein Apollo ergänzen kann. Einfach nur phantastisch.
Bin noch am austesten. Gekauft habe ich das Teil vorallem, weil ich mir für Violin Aufnahmen einen runderen Klang wünsche und ein externes Gerät wollte mit Röhrensound und Kompressor.

J'ai mis 4 pour l'instant par ce que sera pour mon projet studio...

Du sérieux préam

Parfait pour redonner de la chaleur et de la qualité aux préamp de votre interface audio pas forcément au top.. La chaleur du côté lampe mélangé avec la clarté du côté transistor en fait une bête de polyvalence. Le compresseur style 1176 le démarque du modèle single-canal Twin Finity. Chapeau UA.
