I needed a microphone with switchable polar pattern (omni, cardioid, figure-of-eight) on a tight budget. This AKG came well reviewed and, while its's no C414, it's a fraction of the price. Read the specs carefully and, if they work for you, the P420 will deliver quality and value for price. Great hard case with it, including a shockmount. Happy to recommend.
