Austrian Audio OC-S10

Austrian Audio has established itself worldwide in the top league of pro-audio manufacturers in recent years. A significant contribution to this has been made by the sensitive design of the CKR12 ceramic capsule. During the development of the OC-S10, aspects such as roadworthiness and a slim design were put aside in order to bring the fantastic sound of the CKR12 capsule to the recording completely unadulterated. This was achieved by positioning the capsule as freely as possible. Reflective surfaces were eliminated. Distances were increased so that fewer internal reflections occur. The acoustic design around the capsule is so "invisible" that in the measuring room, no difference between the capsule-free, open capsule and the assembled microphone is evident. The completely new circuit design was implemented using discrete components and symmetrical current feedback amplifiers, specially designed for a high slew rate. This results in incredible precision in the reproduction of transients with minimal self-noise. Of course, with the OC-S10, the front and back of the capsule can also be tapped separately. The OC-S10 is also unique in its processing possibilities with our PolarDesigner and StereoCreator plugins in the Post Pro. These enable designers to access the polar pattern or the desired stereo image. This results in previously unprecedented possibilities in post-processing in dealing with room sound, proximity effect, and unwanted sibilance. At Austrian Audio, practical handling in everyday studio life has always been a focus. This is evident in the excellent, well-thought-out design of the elastic microphone suspension. The OC-S10 is easy to rotate, and thanks to the ring-shaped arranged controls for polar pattern, low cut filter, and pad switch, operation is very convenient. The microphone stand thread is designed as a swivel joint, making the microphone flexible to align and adjust. A special feature is the elaborately developed frameless pop filter made of metal foam. This is acoustically neutral, virtually invisible, and eliminates plosive sounds. The pop filter is integrated into the design of the microphone basket and held in the perfect position by magnetic force.
