Frampton's Texan
"When I was about to have our first recording session for Humble Pie around the end of 1968, I loved Steve Marriott's, guitar which was an Epiphone Frontier," Frampton told Epiphone. "And so I asked Dave, the guitar tech—though he was the 'everything tech—you only had one back then (laughs). I asked if he could go and find me one like it. He came back to the studio and said 'I couldn't get one of those but I got this Texan.' And I played it and I just loved it. My Texan was made 3 month's apart from Paul McCartney's. His was a blonde one and mine is a unique sunburst. He wrote "Yesterday" on his and I wrote "Baby I Love Your Way" on mine!"
Classic Texan with Solid Spruce Top with Faded Vintageburst Finish
Like Frampton's vintage 1964 Texan, each Ltd. Ed. Peter Frampton "1964" Texan has a Solid Mahogany body and a Solid Spruce Top with a Faded Vintageburst finish and 3-ply Ivory and Black binding. The Mahogany neck has a 1960s SlimTaper™ C-Profile with a 25.5" scale length, 20 medium jumbo frets, a 12" radius, and a Pau Ferro fingerboard with Pearloid "Parallelogram" inlays. Premium Outfit features L. R. Baggs® DS-ELE System
The Epiphone Ltd. Ed. "1964" Texan Premium Outfit comes with the same cutting edge L. R. Baggs® DS-ELE system Peter Frampton uses on the road with his original '64 Texan. The DS-ELE system is a miniature onboard combination microphone and pickup mixing system with Class A electronics featuring an L. R. Baggs® Element™ Transducer and a L. R. Baggs® FET Omni Condenser Microphone in the guitar body.
The unique system allows for both mono or split stereo operation and incredible accurate reproduction of the true acoustic tone of the Texan through any PA system. The soundhole mounted pickup includes Phase control and Master Volume and Tone controls along with a tunable low cut filter for the microphone element as well as phase control. The system is powered by a standard 9-volt battery.
Ltd. Ed. Peter Frampton "1964" Texan features L. R. Baggs® EAS-VTC System
The Ltd. Ed. "1964" Texan (guitar only) features a L. R. Baggs EAS-VTC system which includes both a soundhole pickup and a Flexible Film Sensor pickup in the saddle. The EAS-VTS system allows the Texan's incredible dynamic range and true acoustic sound to shine through when plugged in. Unlike typical under-saddle acoustic guitar pickups that are dependent on string compression for their tone, the EAS-VTC system was engineered to mirror the soundboard's actual movement as you play. The L. R. Baggs® system includes soundhole mounted controls for Master Volume and Tone along with a built-in LF filter. The L. R. Baggs® EAS-VTC system is powered by a standard 9-volt battery.
Schaller® M6 Machine Heads
Each Ltd. Ed. Peter Frampton "1964" Texan includes the same Schaller® M6 machine heads that Frampton uses on his customized vintage '64 Texan along with nickel strap buttons at the neck heel and body and a 60s era blue soundhole label with the serial number and original Texan model number: FT-79. The Premium Outfit only includes a Hand-Signed Certificate of Authenticity with Presentation Binder, the Peter Frampton CD, Acoustic Classics, and Premium Hard Case.
