It is based on the traditional Fender Stratocaster design but includes a number of custom features that match Eric Clapton’s playing preferences.
This model includes an alder body, a one-piece maple neck with a soft "V" shape profile, and a maple fingerboard. The tone is shaped by a trio of Vintage Noiseless pickups, which deliver classic single-coil sounds without the hum, making it ideal for clean tones and blues-driven overdrive.
A key feature of this model is the built-in mid-boost circuit (up to 25dB), which functions almost like a built-in overdrive pedal. Combined with the active TBX tone control, this makes the guitar extremely versatile for shaping your sound. The guitar also features a blocked synchronized tremolo bridge, similar to how Eric Clapton's personal guitars are set up, which enhances tuning stability and sustains his preferred playing style.

In black (Blackie), no aging. I compare with my 1998 Fender USA Clapton Strat (Lace Sensors or more recent Noiseless pickups) and a 2017 Fender Clapton neck (as replacement of the 1998 neck). The Custom Shop guitar has of course the standard Clapton setup (Noiseless pickups, boost and TBX, onboard electronics (9V battery in the trem cavity), blocked trem, single ply 8 screws pickguard). Everything is very well setup and flawless (everything is approximately 10% better than on the standard USA model). The shape of the neck (V) is significantly different, much nicer and more user-friendly than on the standard USA. The Custom falls in the hands and stays there, for a better play. Simply better, an exceptional Clapton guitar. So there is a concrete added value in the Custom Shop model ... which I would strongly recommend (with no personal interest whatsoever).
