Founded in the 1940's by Clarence Leo Fender, Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company is one of the best known brands in the world of electric guitars, basses, amplifiers and electric pianos. Fender continued to innovate in these areas and built legendary models such as the Telecaster and Stratocaster for the guitar and the Rhodes for the electric piano.

The Drive knob controls the amount of distortion, while 3-band EQ and Filter controls let you shape your sound to taste. We even included cabinet simulation to add some flavor when plugged into a full-range acoustic amp or PA.

Designed by our in-house team of experts, the Smolder Acoustic Overdrive is an all-original Fender circuit. The chassis is crafted from lightweight, durable anodized aluminum, and the Amp Jewel LED gives your pedalboard the classic Fender look. The switchable LED-backlit knobs show your control settings on a dark stage at a glance.

Als Leadgitarrist in einer Akustikformation suchte ich ein Pedal, mit dem ich meine Gitarre für Soli boosten und leicht anzerren kann. Wir spielen v.a. Rocksongs, somit wollte ich den Soli einen etwas frecheren Klang und mehr Fülle und Präsenz verschaffen, ohne aber allzu sehr vom Originalsound abzuweichen. 

Der Smolder Acoustic Overdrive hält insofern sein Versprechen voll und ganz, dass der Verzerrer 100% Akustikgitarren-tauglich ist. Man kann die Verzerrung wunderbar und dosieren. Toll! 

Für mich persönlich ist es nicht das optimale Pedal, weil es den Klang meiner Gitarre stark verändert. Würde ich ganze Songs mit dem Pedal spielen, wäre das okay, denn der Sound ist eigentlich ziemlich cool. Aber weil ich den Effekt nur jeweils für die Soli einschalte und den Rest der Songs ohne Effekt spiele, ist mir die krasse Klangveränderung ein Dorn im Auge. Zudem ist die Lautstärke nicht nur vom Volumen-Regler, sondern auch vom Drive-Regler abhängig. D.h. wenn ich den Sound nur leicht angezerrt haben will, krieg ich keine Lautstärkensteigerung hin für meine Soli. Klar könnte man noch einen separaten Booster anghängen, aber dann müsste ich immer zwei Pedale gleichzeitig drücken und dafür hab ich zu kleine Füsse ;-)

Daher fällt meine Bewertung mit zurückhaltender Euphorie aus. Je nach dem, wie man das Pedal einsetzen will und welcher Sound einem gefällt, kann ich es aber wärmstens empfehlen. 

Übrigens bin ich mittlerweile fündig geworden und habe mit dem OCD von Fulltone ein Pedal gefunden, dass meine Akustikgitarre wunderbar anzerrt und boostet.
