LP has been manufacturing classical percussion instruments for more than half a century and has patented countless improvements and designs that meet the high demands of professional musicians.
It is not for nothing that Latin Percussion instruments can be found on thousands of world-famous top hits and recordings from salsa to rock. The product range extends from congas, bongos and cowbells to timbales, cajons, shakers and effect percussion. It's nearly impossible to turn on the radio or play a playlist without listening to an LP instrument.
The company's history begins in 1956 with Martin Cohen, a young engineer from the Bronx, who discovered his love for Latin American music in the New York jazz clubs. He is so captivated by the sound and the energy that he soon decides to buy his own bongos, but fails because of trade embargoes that made it impossible to import high quality bongos from Cuba at the time. Martin Cohen used his technical know-how and built his first, own bongo set.
A little later - in 1964 he founded Latin Percussion (LP) and began to deliver bongos and cowbells, wrapped in brown paper, to musicians in the clubs. This close connection and the first-hand exchange of experience with the artists of the Latin music scene contribute significantly to the brand's success story and are still an integral part of the company philosophy - the demands of the musicians come first.
Professional and amateur musicians around the world value Latin Percussion instruments today as the best percussion instruments in the world.
