This is a modern dual-coil humbucker. Such pickups are usually only found in absolute high-end basses. Alnico V magnets and a classic bi-pole layout with two poles per string are used - almost like two jazz bass-style pickups in one body. The pickup is available in two different versions: one is optimized for parallel and the other for serial circuits. This is because a pickup that works excellently in parallel configuration will usually have too much output and sound too dark in series configuration. This is why the "Series"-Dual Coil "has fewer windings than the "Parallel"-Dual Coil. usually, a pickup connected in series has fatter and more voluminous mids with more muted highs than a pickup connected in parallel. Pickups operated in parallel configuration generally have more highs and more bass foundation with cleaner mids. Pickups connected in series also have more output. Pickups connected in parallel are generally better suited for splitting operation, as there is less loss of volume compared to pickups working in series. These pickups are only available with black plastic covers with exposed pole pieces. Suitable as replacement pickups for Bartolini P2 (5-string) and BC (4-string) pickups.
