For those who have experience with the BETA 58A and also the wireless version, they know what Shure has to offer. In a review, I read "best microphone in the world," and that's exactly what the KSM 9 is. I was initially unsure whether to switch to a condenser microphone, but I eventually decided to do so. It was the best decision I ever made. The KSM 9 has a switch under the basket (which is activated by turning the basket) that allows you to set the microphone to cardioid or supercardioid. I use this microphone as a vocal microphone while playing the drums, with the supercardioid setting, and the background noise is minimized. You can immediately tell the difference between the SSSS and KKK sounds. On the receiver, you can manually adjust the input volume, and the gain on the mixing console is set much lower. The microphone provides the clearest, most dynamic, and warmest sound. However, it does cost three times as much as the BETA 58A Wireless, but it is absolutely worth the investment.
