A massive sound with full projection and a rich, resonant sound, combined with a fine, crisp snare response. To achieve this sound, the Japanese company Tama gave the Starphonic snare drums a new rim, lug and lift design, mounted on a selection of uniquely constructed shells. Perhaps the most important innovation are the “Freedom Lugs” and the “Claw Hooks”: Thanks to the new design, the clamping claws can simply be folded away to the side after slightly loosening the screws. The "Grooved Hoop" rim can be quickly removed and reinstalled in this way, which enables extremely quick and uncomplicated fur changes. This system is further refined with a quickly removable butt end to speed up the change of the Reso head. The fine settings of the snare carpet are retained 100% and there is no need to fine-tune again.
