Stereo Monitor & Talkback Controller

The Monitor & Talkback Controller MTC 2381 combines volume and Speaker Management in stereo monitoring with comfortable talkback and cue functions.

Description

The Monitor & Talkback Controller MTC 2381 combines volume level control, source management and loudspeaker management for stereo monitoring with comfortable talkback and cue functions. Thus, it is the ideal complement DAW in all areas of sound processing and playback:

- Stereo-Produktionen/Recording-Studio
- Film and Video Post-Production
- Video & computer game production
- Audiovisual / multimedia production

The MTC 2381 every DAW-based studio system-can be expanded to include essential stereo monitoring capabilities. As individual musicians mixture of signal and mixed-signal, a zero-latency cue mix for the musicians to be created. The talk-back communication is a built-in electret microphone with omindirektionaler characteristics available to speak from a distance can. About a foot switch, the Talkback function be controlled remotely.

- Full analog volume control with direct reglendem Potentiometer (no VCAs or DACs)
- Six stereo inputs (four balanced and two unbalanced sources), balanced XLR outputs for three loudspeaker pairs, slave output
- Monitoring: source and loudspeaker selection, mono, dim and mute
- Talkback: Built-in microphone, separate output and footswitch input
- Cue-Mix: separate output, Musician-level, mix level and volume control

The sturdy box with an inclined front fits perfectly in a modern desktop work environments and is ideal for placement next to or under screens.

DESCRIPTION

The Monitor & Talkback Controller (MTC) from SPL is an analog, central volume control for system independent stereo monitoring. In addition, a cue mix for the musician to be created (used individual blend of music signal and mixed-signal) and the ability to talk-back communication. The cue mix is independent of computer and control, as also free of latency, the communication between musicians and control room is via a built-in talkback microphone.

In particular, users of modern audio and video production systems (Pro Tools, Nuendo, Cubase, Logic Pro, Deck, etc.) will appreciate the advantages of the MTC, as the Monitor levels and source management can be controlled independently of the software and without quality loss. It is no longer necessary to invest in additional aux channels for monitoring. In addition, the associated disadvantage that occur at high or low volumes over-or understeer of the converters can be excluded.

A significant advantage of the MTC is the ability to manage up to six input sources. The Comparative listening is greatly simplified compared to the effort which is preparing to monitor the import of all files into the computer - to say nothing of the fact necessary, additional A / DD / A conversions.

The input and output electronics are built with original SPL symmetry drivers. A frequency range up to 100kHz, with extremely high dynamics, and common mode rejection ensure specs that exceed SACD standards, as it is able to provide only high-quality analog technology.

Status LEDs
Above each switch of the control panel shows an LED on the status of the switch (when the button is pressed, the LED). The Talk Back feature is triggered by an external switch, light up the talk-LED as well.

Master Volume
The analog master volume potentiometer controls the audio signals directly, so no signalverfälschende electronics such as in conventional control circuits of VCAs, DACs, etc. is used, which would lead to greater tolerance between the channels and has a higher distortion slope. In addition, the potentiometer has an optimal torque for precise and comfortable hand control.

Lautsprecherkalibration
At the MTC 2381 can be connected to three stereo loudspeaker. The MTC has no trim pots to the signal not to unnecessarily burden-end power amps or powered speakers are all equipped already with input sensitivity control.
During synchronization, you should start with the softest pair of speakers (lowest noise performance) and adjust the input sensitivity at maximum. At the same master volume value at the MTC we now control the input sensitivity of the other couples pushed back so that all sound the same volume. If you do not sound meter (to not say a SPL meter:) has on hand before you take this adjustment by ear.

Footswitch
To the Footswitch jack input can be connected to a switch or button, on the talk-back function can be controlled remotely. Commercially foot switch or push button may be used, as known for example from the keyboard area.

Slave Out
At the symmetric Slave Out jacks can all actively connected 2TR inputs (Mix, 2TrA to 2TrD) summed can be tapped. For example, the monitoring signal is fed to a recording medium parallel or monitored the output of a CD player at the same time and headed into the DAW. Likewise, the connection of analog stereo metering devices is possible. The run on the Musician-Musician input signal is not carried out to the slave output - yes, it is used only for zero-latency monitoring and not recording.

Talk out
Out on Talk about a balanced output jack only the talkback microphone signal will be spent to create an alternative listening option (for example, in another room).
This output is useful to use, for example when not all the musicians in the recording room want to wear headphones or can. Even advertising or synchronous reluctance speaker often wear headphones. About the Talk-Out jack allows the sound engineer on a directly active loudspeaker that is placed in the recording room to speak to the speakers or musicians. The volume of the Talk signal is set by the Talk-level controls.

Headphone output
On the headphone output can be connected to a headset to listen to the control room mix parallel to the selected pair of speakers can. The headset is on the HP on-switch on or off, so that it can remain plugged if it is to be dumb.
