There are two types of BOSS footswitches to chose from depending on the application. The FS-5U (momentary type) engages a function while you hold down the switch. The FS-5L (latch type) changes the on/off status each time you press the switch.

I have a pair of these that are over 10 years old and still going strong. I had 1 pedal as a backup and decided to get one more for the duo backup plan. Doesn’t require batteries like the Boss FS-6.
It performs its function very well. An advantage is that you can easily link multiple units together when needed.
