The visionary spirit of Koichi Kawai, our founder, laid an ambitious foundation stone and is the main reason why the name Kawai has been synonymous with innovation since 1927. Kawai produced the first digital piano with keys made entirely of wood - as well as the first keyboard that was a true replica of a grand piano action, the first integrated CD recorder and the first digital piano with a real wood soundboard as a speaker replacement.

This Kawai produced unit features a solid construction with non-slip rubber base, individually weighted damper, soft, and sostenuto pedals, and utilises high resolution optical sensors for reliable and accurate velocity detection.
