The guitar is truly ideal for travel. It sounds just like a "real" one, but it doesn't draw attention to itself. It's easy to disassemble quickly after practice, and it's also easy to store in a caravan. The electronics sound good, and practicing with it is enjoyable.
I have been using the Yamaha SLG200S for several weeks now, and I can compare it to the SLG100S. One particularly positive aspect is the low battery consumption of the SLG200S, which has been significantly improved compared to the previous model. The build quality of both guitars is absolutely flawless. The tuners are simple but effective; the guitar is easy to tune and maintains its tuning reliably. The pots also operate very smoothly, although the knobs are a bit small. The sound diversity of the SLG200S is impressive. From a relatively sterile piezo sound to sampled sounds, a wide range of tones are possible. However, I find that the built-in compressor is a bit too aggressive. Since I play with finger and thumbpicks, this reduces some of the dynamic range, which I consider to be a drawback. The string height of the 12-53 gauge strings is, in my opinion, slightly too high. I am considering switching to a 11-gauge set or having the neck adjusted slightly to improve playability. An interesting aspect is that the sound changes noticeably depending on the headphones used, which is likely due to the impedance of the headphones. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Yamaha SLG200S offers excellent value for money and is overall impressive due to its quality and sound diversity.
