For heavy, molten metal riffage, the Jim Root Jazzmaster® V4 delivers crushing detuned tone with a bold new look. We worked closely with the towering Slipknot guitarist to create a brutal-sounding signature Jazzmaster model that complements his heavy playing style—right down to its signature Daemonum™ open-coil EMG® active pickups, shred-worthy 12” radius fingerboard with jumbo frets, sparse control layout and more.

Anyone who knows Jim Root will know that this guitar is no longer primarily used for jazz. It's a uncompromising, minimalist, and aggressive high-gain axe! Despite its width, the neck is very comfortable and easy to play. There are no complaints about the build quality or setup. I'm not a big fan of EMG pickups, but the Jim Root DAEMONUM pickups sound much better than the sterile and compressed-sounding 81/60 combination. The focus on classic passive pickups is clearly evident, with a noticeable increase in dynamics and less compression. However, I can still play clean tones well with the neck pickup. Nevertheless, I'm considering replacing the EMGs with Fishman Fluence pickups to gain additional tonal options.
