H-Expander
All Hagstrom guitars feature the patented revolutionary H-Expander truss rod. This incredibly stiff yet lightweight truss rod allows for an incredibly comfortable and permanently consistent playability of the neck.
Resinator Wood
Resinator wood is a pressure-laminated wood composite that has a denser and more stable structure than standard woods. These properties prevent the so-called "dead spots" or "wolf notes" that can occur with some conventional fingerboard materials. Resinator wood delivers a similarly articulate sound development as high-quality ebony, without the unwanted side effects. Resinator offers the player a stable, clear sound, full top end and detailed projection on single notes. Like our H-Expander truss rod, Resinator wood is an essential part of the characteristic Hagstrom sound.
Hagstrom mechanics
The Hagstrom machine heads are reminiscent of the original parts from the 60s; with slightly smaller wings that are even more comfortable to use. The 18:1 gear ratio guarantees precise tuning in every situation.
Trapeze bridge
This special bridge not only looks good but also fulfills an important function: the asymmetrical arrangement of the strings means that the tuning is better maintained.
Set Neck
Hagstrom uses a variety of different neck joints throughout our range. Our set-neck recipe is the classic and time-tested Mortise and Tenon joint, a design that most efficiently transfers string energy from neck to body, and can often only be found on more expensive custom-built guitars. A team of experienced and dedicated craftsmen hand carves every neck joint, insuring perfect execution of this traditional technique preferred by luthiers for generations.
