The GK-5 is a user-installable guitar pickup designed for the advanced Serial GK digital interface found in the latest BOSS guitar synthesizer products.
Offering improved performance over the previous analog 13-pin interface, Serial GK opens a universe of new sonic possibilities in guitar and bass synthesis.

Der Boss GK 5 Tonabnehmer ist die neueste Ergänzung in der Linie des Gitarrensynthesizer GM 800 von Boss. Mit dem Ruf von Boss als qualitativ hochwertigem Hersteller von Musikausrüstung waren die Erwartungen an dieses Produkt hoch.

Vorteile:
Der Tonabnehmer funktioniert recht gut in Bezug auf das Tracking der gespielten Noten und die Umwandlung in Synthesizerklänge. Kann nicht beurteilen, ob er besser als der GK 3 ist, da ich keinen mehr habe.
Das Design ist schlank und unauffällig, was vielen Gitarristen gefallen dürfte, die eine nahtlose Integration wünschen. Das Klinkenkabel ist viel besser als der frühere 13 Pol Stecker... 

Nachteile:
Ich habe den Pickup nach Anleitung in eine Fender Strat eingebaut. Dieses Mal wollte ich es 'richtig' machen und habe mich für das Schrauben entschieden. Dabei muss man auf beiden Seiten eine Feder unter die Schraube setzen. Leider hat dies mit der Strat nicht funktioniert! Da der Pickup bei dieser Gitarre schon naturgemäss wenig Abstand zu den Saiten hat, muss man sehr feste runterschrauben. Dabei sind die Ösen der Pickup-löcher kaputtgegangen. Ich empfehle also bei Strats unbedingt das Kleben!!! Das Musix Team war sehr hilfreich bei der Problemlösung - am Ende gab es leider keine, weil ich denke, dass es mit Strats so nicht funktioniert. Der Pickup funktioniert trotzdem... 
 
Während die Notenverfolgung gut ist, gibt es gelegentliche Glitches oder Verzögerungen, besonders bei schnellem oder komplexem Spiel. Das ist aber zu erwarten. Wer Perfektion will muss ca 4000 Euro für eine Synth Gitarre von einem Irischen Hersteller kaufen

Fazit:

Der Boss GK 5 ist ein solider Tonabnehmer für Gitarrensynthesizer, der jedoch nicht ohne seine Mängel ist (Einbau Strat).
