How It Works

The SM7dB has a built-in Shure-designed preamp, giving it enough oomph to work with any XLR interface. Providing up to +28 dB of gain, the preamp preserves the mic’s frequency response for that iconic sound. All you need is an interface or mixer offering +48V of phantom power to operate the preamp. Don’t need the preamp? Flick the switch to the left to “bypass” and get original SM7B performance.

The microphone will retain its great audio traits. Bypassing the preamp reverts the SM7dB to original SM7B performance.
