AN-X ENGINE
Integrated into the motion control system, the AN-X engine allows you to create expressive, uniquely analog-sounding sounds according to your personal ideas.

AWM2
Experience realism and detail with the MODX M Advanced Wave Memory (AWM2). With up to 128 elements per part, AWM2 enables more layers and articulations and offers you an extensive palette for sound generation, especially for “namelable” sounds such as piano and strings.

268-FOLD POLYPHONY
MODX M offers a polyphony of up to 268 notes via its three engines

AND EVEN MORE
PRESET WAVE AND FLASH STORAGE UPGRADE: MODX M offers about twice as much memory as MODX/MODX+ with an increase of 5.68 GB to 10.7 GB AWP2 memory and 1.9 GB user flash memory. - VCM ROTARY SPEAKER: The VCM Rotary Speaker effect simulates the rich and enveloping motion of a classic Rotary speaker case.

SPECIAL PART AND SCENE CONTROL
There are special buttons for the part and scene selection, with which you can control 8 parts per performance. This intuitive control is especially beneficial for live performances, improves overall ease of use, and adds an extra dimension to each performance.

HIGH-RESOLUTION CONTROL
The MODX M-Regulators, Super Knob, Pitch Bend, Mod Wheel and Sound Engine are now high-resolution. Thanks to the fine resolution, the MODX M works more fluidly than its predecessor models.
- 88 keys with Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) weighted action
- Velocity-sensitive with Initial Touch; no aftertouch
- Designed to deliver the feel of an acoustic piano while offering full synthesis/control capabilities
Sound Engines:
- AWM2 (Advanced Wave Memory 2) — sample-based synthesis engine
- FM-X — 8-operator frequency modulation synthesis engine
- AN-X — new virtual-analog synthesis engine (introduced in the “M” series)
- Motion Control Synthesis system — integrates the engines via Super Knob, Motion Sequences, Envelope Follower, etc.
Polyphony:
- AWM2: up to 128 voices (stereo/mono waveforms)
- FM-X: up to 128 voices
- AN-X: variable (for example up to 12 voices in some descriptions)
- Combined effective polyphony: up to ~268 voices in total when layering across engines
Performance:
- 16 Parts (internal) + Audio Input Part + USB Audio Part
- Up to 8 Parts can be active per Performance (live or layered)
- Seamless Sound Switching (SSS) between Performances
- Each Part supports its own insert effects and controller mappings
Memory & Wave Content:
- Preset Waveform ROM: approximately 10.7 GB (in the “M” series variant)
- User Wave Memory (Flash) : approximately 1.9 GB for custom samples and waveforms
- Library Slots and User Performances: large capacity for user content and expansion
Effects & Filters:
- Insertion Effects (A/B per Part) : many types (e.g., 88 types in some M series descriptions)
- System Effects (Variation + Reverb) : multiple types
- Master Effects and Master EQ (5-band)
- Includes advanced effect modelling (VCM effects), amp simulations, rotary speaker emulation, motion sequencer based routing, etc.
Controls & Interface:
- 8 Assignable Knobs and 8 Assignable Faders (in the M series hardware control layout)
- Super Knob for macro parameter control
- Motion Sequencer for tempo-synced automation
- Front-panel dedicated Part & Scene Buttons for live performance switching
- Large color touchscreen (7″) for editing and navigation
Connectivity:
- Audio Outputs: L / R via ¼″ unbalanced outputs
- Headphones: ¼″ stereo jack
- A/D Inputs: 2 × ¼″ jacks (L/Mono, R) for external audio sources (mic/instrument)
- USB Audio/MIDI Interface: 10 outputs / 4 inputs (or variants described as 4 in / 10 out) supporting multichannel recording via USB
- MIDI In/Out (5-pin DIN) + USB MIDI (USB Type B) — with MIDI 2.0 support in the M series
- Pedal/Footswitch Inputs: multiple assignable foot controllers and footswitch inputs
Sequencer / Recording:
- Arpeggiator: large number of preset patterns available; multiple parts can use arps simultaneously
- Pattern Sequencer/Flash Recorder: multi-track sequencing for live/production use (e.g., 16 tracks or similar)
