Ottimo prodotto

Inspiré du 1176 d'Urei, ce petit compresseur est une tuerie. Juste dommage qu'il n'y ait pas de blend afin de mixer le son non-compressé, mais comme l'original n'en a pas non plus, on lui pardonnera cette fonction manquante ;)

MXR M87

En préambule, je signale que j'utilise un compresseur en continu, afin de gommer les différences de niveaux entre les aigus et les graves, et non pas pour booster un son spécifique.
J'ai acheté ce compresseur en remplacement d'un EBS MultiComp qui faisait correctement son travail, mais qui commençait à avoir un bruit de fond assez dérangeant. Lors de mon premier essai, j'ai été emballé par ce compresseur MXR M87. La ligne de LED permettant de voir le taux de compression est très agréable à l'utilisation. Comparativement à l'EBS, le son n'est quasiment pas transformé (l'EBS ajoute quand même pas mal d'aigus, ce qui peut être agréable pour une basse d'entrée de gamme ou vintage). De plus, la compression est nettement plus efficace que l'EBS, dont le ratio est de maximum 5:1.
Par contre, après quelques jours d'essai, je trouve son réglage difficile. Avec une basse à fort niveau d'entrée, le réglage du gain d'entrée est très (trop) fin. Si j'effectue un réglage adéquat pour le jeu au doigt, mon son est trop compressé en slap, et si je fais un son pour le slap, alors il y n'y a quasiment plus de compression aux doigts. Pour finir, je préfère lorsque les réglages Attack et Release sont automatisés et s'adaptent automatiquement au niveau de la note jouée. Avec une basse avec un très bon sustain, il faut régler le release très très long pour que le volume ne 'revienne' pas, ce qui n'est pas un très bon réglage pour le reste du jeu.  
Au final, c'est plutôt un bon compresseur, mais comme je m'entends déjà mal avec un égaliseur paramétrique, il y a un peu trop de boutons pour moi. Je pense également qu'il n'est pas particulièrement adapté à ma basse, qui possède un très fort niveau de sortie.
Je l'ai avantageusement remplacé par un Keeley Bassist Compressor, pas (encore) en vente chez Musix, qui est absolument parfait pour moi.
