Amp 1 is, tonally, a very versatile and superb sounding amp. It looks small, and weighs only 1.2 kgs, but packs a hell of a punch. Thomas Blug really has thought of almost every guitarist's needs with this tonally. I use it direct to the PA via the Record/Headphone Out and it sounds great (and the monitor as an amp). If you're a lead guitarist, I guess the Remote will be needed which will add to the cost. For me it works as a stand alone unit as it is possible to allocate the foot switches to 3 of the 4 channels. I personally use the Vintage for clean and crunch and then the Classic and Modern for higher gain stuff. It is not cheap but so far I do not regret buying it at all.
