Kali Audio presents the 3-way 5" near-field monitor IN-5 as a precise monitoring system for smaller rooms. The further development of the successful LP series has a sophisticated bass reflex system with level-fixed woofer. Instead of the usual tweeter with 3D imaging waveguides. However, a coaxial mid-high range combination is built in. The profile-optimized 4" mid-range speaker also functions as a waveguide. By limiting the peak deflection to 1mm, intermodulation distortion that otherwise occurs in coaxial systems can be avoided. The midrange speaker also relieves the woofer and tweeter, so the IN-5 plays more harmoniously and distortion-free than conventional 2-way studio monitors.
The crossover frequency of the woofer is 280Hz, making the IN-5 an acoustic point source. You will look in vain for phase extinctions on the vertical axis. Instead, the IN-5 has an even radiation pattern over the entire frequency response with excellent depth graduation and localization. The stereo image also benefits from the coaxial arrangement and enables a detailed mix. Thanks to the "Boundary EQ" known from the LP series, the IN-5 can be adapted to different studio environments just as easily as its sister models.
