The Boss ES-8 is now my third switcher, and it's a top-notch piece of equipment. It offers a massive range of possibilities, especially when used with MIDI, and is extremely flexible (the order of loops/pedals can be changed!!!), and the sound quality is absolutely pristine. However, one thing that is unforgivable is that it has no USB connection, so there is no accompanying editor software (although there may be some DIY solutions using MIDI-dump, but I don't want to deal with that). Therefore, everything must be controlled directly on the device, which feels like something from the 1980s. It's really puzzling why Boss would forgo a computer connection on such a functional and complex device. Nevertheless: I highly recommend it. There doesn't seem to be a better and more affordable switcher/looper on the market right now! Perhaps the next generation will finally have USB… Note: There is an editor software for the ES-8 (https://www.boss.info/global/products/es-8/downloads/). The upload to the device is done via the existing MIDI interface.
