The Expression pedal, along with the Line 6 POD Express (which I purchased and it's compatible with), is essentially unusable for me. At the quietest part of the control range, the volume is at zero, and after a "jump," the volume increases to the maximum in 2-3 steps. This applies in both directions of the volume control, unfortunately. A smooth on/off is therefore not possible. I can't say which of the two components is the problem. The EX1 itself is probably not defective, but simply not suitable; it doesn't do what it's supposed to and what's promised. I'm honestly used to better products from Line 6. I eventually returned the pedal. It took several weeks and numerous inquiries to Musix before I could even publish a negative review. It was only then that Musix pointed out that the problem could also be due to the software version of the POD Express, and that I should use a different cable (!!!) than the one that came with it. In conclusion: utterly disappointing, both from Line 6 and Musix!
