Description

The opsix SE is an altered FM synthesizer with 6 operators and an intuitive operating concept based on a clear operator mixer with color-coded faders and rotary controls. With its elegant and at the same time robust metal housing and the premium keyboard with 61 keys and aftertouch, it represents the pro version of the KORG opsix, which also meets the highest demands. As if that weren't enough, the maximum polyphony of the Japanese-made instrument has been increased to up to 80 voices (compared to 32 voices for the opsix). The preset sounds of the opsix SE have all been revised for the new aftertouch functionality and supplemented with new, additional sounds. The chic metal case of the instrument gives it a particularly elegant character and easily withstands the hardships of everyday touring. What has remained is the incredibly versatile Altered FM sound generation from the opsix, which can cover six different forms of synthesis with FM, subtractive synthesis, virtual semi-modular synthesis, virtual analog synthesis, waveshaping and additive synthesis. Should the 40 factory-prepared algorithms not be able to deliver the desired sound, you can create your own algorithms in no time – and if necessary for each sound program individually! There are no fewer than 12 different routing options to choose from via the virtual patchbay. Combined with the high-quality effects, of which up to three can be used simultaneously, and the powerful, polyphonic step sequencer with motion sequencing, the result is a variety of sounds that hardly any other hardware synth can deliver on its own. And so that the instrument is well protected during transport, it comes with a matching KORG hard case. Subtractive Synthesis

Removing individual sound components to get the desired sound – probably the most common form of synthesis. The opsix SE offers up to six envelopes and different filter models to create a variety of modern but also classic analog sounds.

Semi-modular synthesis

Rerouting signal paths to alter the sound. A foray into the Algorithm section dramatically changes the sonic character of a sound by altering the signal routing between operators - all without patch cords!

Analog-style controls and massively stackable waveforms create the balancing act between digital and analog sound in no time at all. This way you can create ultra-deep basses, crisp leads, voluminous pad sounds, distorted brass sounds and much more.

waveshaping

Deliberately distorting waveforms to create aggressive-sounding overtones that can be either harmonic or discordant. This can be used to create particularly snappy, assertive sounds that are bursting with character.

Additive Synthesis

Layering waveforms and blending their overtones is the key to a wide range of harmonic, dissonant and suspenseful sounds. With six available operators, a variety of classic additive sounds can be realized, which have become indispensable in recent music history.
