Within a short time, the Fantomen has worked its way up to become a Hagstrom Range favorite. No wonder the flexible sound of the Lundgren pickup duo and the perfectly balanced Performance make the Fantomen a workhorse for stage and studio alike. Now this hit is available in a particularly ingenious finish combination, consisting of metallic paint and such ingenious details as the mirror pickguard and black chrome hardware. Based on the original Fantomen In close collaboration, Hagstrom's design team and the Swedish band Ghost developed the "Fantomen" (Swedish for "Phantom"). This guitar combines Hagstrom's legendary playing culture with a technical sophistication that serves all the sound requirements of the tough style. The starting point is an asymmetrically shaped Body made of solid mahogany and a mahogany neck, which is connected to the Body with our typical tenon system. Like many Hagstrom guitars, the Fantomen includes our H-Expander® truss rod and is equipped with a Resinator® fingerboard, which not only stabilizes the neck but also contributes significantly to the guitar's euphony. These components provide a solid foundation for a versatile and perfectly appealing sound. Fantomen - snappy attack and more sustain With a Body that is only 3.5cm thick, the Fantomen is balanced in the hand and at the same time surprisingly light. The 25.5” scale (648mm) provides a snappier attack and more sustain compared to guitars with the classic 24.75” scale. The neck connection design allows easy access to all 22 frets and will delight even the most demanding virtuosos. Enormous range of possibilities Our goal was to equip the Fantomen with electronics that cover the widest possible sound spectrum - from "classic" vintage to roaring metal sounds. The official sound and flexibility are provided by pickups from the Swedish pickup master Johan Lundgren, who has already developed pickups for Martin Hagström (no relation) of the Meschuggah. Lundgren recommended two different humbuckers: No. 2 on the neck and no. 5 on the jetty. This gives guitarists an enormous expressive range, ranging from velvety, warm sounds to a bitter attack and a dynamic that even hardened headbangers bow in awe. You also don't need to do without the individual coil split with the push/pull function of the tone controls and thus get even more sounds out of the guitar.
