First off : Musix is the best website for musicians in Switzerland, no doubt about it. The delivery was quick and impeccable and all the service provided by the people working there was excellent. Very helpful and professional people. This thing is blowing my mind right now. In the realm of guitar amps, 600-700 bucks isn't much but this thing has it all. i already had a Boss Katana amp I loved, but this is strictly superior in every aspect. Sound, features, everything. It takes quite a lot of room, it's a big object but it's perfectly alright. It comes with a specific software you can download to create your own custom tones and with the Boss GA-FC foot controller (sold separately and entirely compatible with this amp) you really have a lot of weapons in your arsenal, enough to sustain you for years and years of playing. Don't be afraid of modelling amps, I personally know a 'vintage tone' guitar guy who was pleasantly surprised by the sound I was able to get with the inferior model I had and an 'entry level' guitar with rather hot humbuckers. The more familiar you will get with it, the better tones you will get out of it and it won't sound 'numeric' at all. This is a tool you have to master, but it will give everything back to you in a great way.
Boss Katana series has an insane reputation and for a good reason. This amp is amazing, feature-packed and sounds really good, regardless of the genre, although the speaker struggles a bit at very high distortion. From metal to clean acoustic sounds, playing at home won't get any better (without destroying the neighbors' ear drums). The 0.5 Watts setting is very useful for someone living in an apartment. Large range of built-in effects, overdrive and distortion, this amp is a complete pack in itself without any pedals. Nevertheless, if you use your pedals, you'll get great sounds out of it as it also has an FX loop. If you're into aggressive metal sounds (death/black metal in low tunings), I'd recommend changing the speaker to a Celestion Vintage 30, it's not expensive, easy to replace and sounds much better when distorted. The spade connections are the same, so as opposed to earlier Katana amps, there is no need to buy anything else for the speaker upgrade. Make sure to buy a matching USB cable for the amp as the vast majority of its capabilities can only be reached with the desktop application that requires a cable connection to the amp. I highly recommend it.
