Desktop/rack version of the modwave mkII

The modwave module is the space-saving rack version of the modwave mkII and, with the exception of the keyboard and the pitch/modulation wheels, has the same controls and features as the surprisingly versatile wavetable synthesizer from KORG. The modwave sound generation is based on a combination of wavetables, PCM samples and different filter models, which, in conjunction with extensive modulation options and a high-quality effects section, offers almost endless possibilities for sound design. The novel KAOSS PHYSICS function enables unique modulations based on a physical model, in which a virtual ball is thrown into a virtual space and continues to move there based on modifiable physical conditions (acceleration, braking, bouncing off walls, etc.), where this “ball” “guided” via the integrated X/Y touchpad. and “set in motion” can be. Thanks to Motion Sequencing 2.0, the integrated step sequencer enables complex programmed sound changes with parameter changes on up to four different tracks. For individual expansion, a total of 4 GB of additional storage is available for your own samples, which can be transferred to the instrument using editor software. The modwave module also supports the MIDI 2.0 Property Exchange Standard as well as polyphonic Aftertouch and is therefore an ideal complement to the KORG Keystage MIDI 2.0 Keyboard. For use as a desktop module, you can choose between two different setup angles: will be held. Alternatively, the modwave module can also be installed in a particularly space-saving 4 height units in a conventional 19" rack.

For me, the Modwave is the top instrument in the series, alongside the Wavestate. It's actually quite puzzling that it's not available as a SE version. I initially had the version 1 with a 3-octave keyboard. When the racks arrived and the MK II quickly became popular, I started wanting to replace both of my keyboards. It takes up less space, and with the Wavestate module, both can be mounted in a mixer rack, making them portable for live use. That's a great feature. As for the instrument itself, the Modwave is a very special synth, which, in my opinion, is greatly underestimated. If more people knew what they had on their desks, more would buy it. Besides being a superb wavetable synth, it also has the original 16 wavetables from the DW 8000, in both static and scanable versions. With these wavetables, it's very easy to recreate all the sounds from the DW 8000. After all, digital is digital. The analog filters of the DW 8000 are easily matched by the Modwave's filters. When you combine the powerful sound design capabilities of the Modwave with its 5 LFOs and 4 envelope curves, and its full effects package, you can create sounds that other synths simply can't. For me, the Modwave is a highlight in the world of synths.
