If you increase the resonance of this powerful Rev.1 filter to the maximum, self-oscillation sets in, which is ideally suited as the basis for fat kick sounds with complex overtone content. A virtually limitless spectrum of kick sounds can be created with simple, effective parameters. At the beginning of the sound design you can use the MS-20 RESONATOR (PITCH/BEND/TIME) to control the pitch, which creates the "body resonance" of the kick sound. Then you set the clip component and thus the attack with PULSE COLOR/LEVEL and then adjust the decay of the sound with AMP ATTACK/DECAY. The creative potential ranges from compact, crisp kicks to fat, long-fading kicks to kick basses with a defined pitch and offers the right sound for every type of dance music. Aggressive sound control with DRIVE and TONE In addition to the analog kick generator circuit based on the MS-20 filter, several distortion levels can be generated with the analog drive function. The strength and type of distortion can be varied with just one controller to intuitively create further facets of kick sounds and fine-tune the treble range with a tone controller. Powerful kick bass with assertiveness The Volca kick is more than a kick drum machine. With the 16 keys of your touch panel keyboard you can perform dynamic kick basses and with the powerful analog circuit you can generate exactly those sub-basses that are indispensable for dance music styles such as grime or trap. Since the Volca kick covers the entire low and medium frequency range, you can easily create sequences with drum sounds such as low tom and high tom as well as surprising sound effects. Creative patterns with the Volca sequencer 16-step sequencer with automation of parameters The 16-step sequencer of the Volca kick opens up space for improvisation. You can spontaneously sketch out kick drum patterns and play your kick bass phrases in real time. With the Pattern Chain function, several sequence patterns can be played back one after the other, thus combining up to 16 sequences with 32, 64 or even 256 steps. The Motion Sequence function records controller movements and refines the sound with dynamic changes. Loops are given the finishing touches and live performances inspire with their high level of originality. Up to 16 sequence patterns and sounds can be saved in the internal memory. ACTIVE STEP creates new beats and basslines by removing/inserting steps With the Active Step function you can skip steps during sequence playback. You can create effects such as shortened loops or irregular rhythms and use the sequencer as a creative tool for dynamic performances. ACCENT, SLIDE and BEND REVERSE refine every sequence With the Volca kick, every step of a sequence can be edited down to the smallest detail. With an ACCENT controller for dynamics control and a new type of accent function, you can program accents per step (not per trigger) and thus create sequences with a very special "groove" and "glitch". The slide function connects the steps of the kick bass to a seamless, flowing unit. With the Bend Reverse function, which can be set for each step, you can play bends backwards and reverse the usual falling pitch of a kick drum. TOUCH FX controls realtime sequence effects with cuts, breaks and fills With the new Touch FX function, the performance potential of the Volca kick is greatly expanded. By simply tapping a step button, you can immediately trigger a sequence effect and transform your real-time performance into a kaleidoscope of sounds. The sequence effects offer a roll function that plays a sound repeatedly, an octave function that raises the pitch by one or two octaves, and a sustain function that immediately increases the amp decay to the maximum.
