I purchased this module to replace the stock module of the TD-07KX e-drum kit. One positive aspect is that it arrived with the latest firmware version, which was a good thing. Although updating the firmware isn't very complicated, having it pre-installed saved time. The hardware installation was straightforward. However, it's important to note that compared to the TD-07 module, you will need a balanced TRS cable to connect the CRASH2 to the TRIGGER-IN input. I had to make minimal adjustments to the settings of the various pads/crashes as they were already well-configured by default. I tested it with some kits bought online, and they all work perfectly. One very useful feature is the ability to load your own soundtracks directly onto an SD card to play along with. Regarding the SD card, it's recommended to use an SD-HC with a maximum of 32 GB of memory, as anything larger won't be formatted correctly. Initially, I was undecided whether to buy the TD-17 or this one. The TD-17, in addition to having less memory compared to the TD-27, lacks the transient function that was added in one of the latest updates for the other models. I find it absurd that the smaller TD-07, has this feature by default and not the TD-17. Having this function is a game-changer; it significantly improves the sound. Search on YouTube for the video 'Transients | How To Make Roland Drums Sound Better' for more information. This module costs more than the TD-17, but it's worth it. For those who want to upgrade their module, I can only recommend it.
You can’t beat this kit, fantastic playing feeling, awesome sounds, easy to use. You can seriously just plug and play a gig tomorrow. Records to perfection. If your a pro or a learner don’t overlook this kit.
