Let's address the construction first. The EVO series are made from plastic and not metal. I've owned three Focusrite Scarlett series interfaces and these were made of metal. But, really, I've never needed the protection or ruggedness of metal - so the EVO 8's build material shouldn't ever be a problem for me. thereafter, it's really easy - the features, the relatively low latency drivers, the EVO Software app - these are all excellent and, at this price point, put the EVO 8 at the top of any short list for consideration. The audio quality sounds very, very clean - I've only used the unit for a few weeks, but so far, so good. One minor caveat - be sure of your USB-C power and cabling - if you don't provide enough power, the EVO 8 cannot deliver phantom power to all four microphone preamps - so do your homework, and get the cabling right. Happy to have purchased this.

Features

Excellent interface. It is neutral and free from background noise, with high-quality preamps. The interface with the PC is excellent. The volume control on the sound card directly controls the internal volume of the PC, which eliminates the need to have separate PC and sound card volumes. The automatic gain control is convenient, but not essential. The direct volume control is quite good, with a balance between direct volume and volume from the PC, but it can sometimes be inconvenient, requiring multiple adjustments to achieve the desired settings. It might be lacking XLR outputs, but it has balanced jacks, which is sufficient.
