Description

design

- Aurora(n) is an extremely high-quality A/D D/A converter that was developed with a view to completely uncompromising and lifelike conversion at all sample rates at a reasonable price.

Transparent audio

- Signal discoloration adds up and destroys what is actually a good mix. This may still work on a single track, but becomes a problem when several audio tracks or generations are mixed. Because of this, a discolored mix collapses while a transparent mix remains airy, defined, and realistic. This is not achievable with converters that color and weight signals. Transparency is important! Lynx transducers are known for their acoustic transparency. This is the reason why Lynx converters are used wherever particularly demanding audio tasks are involved.

Uncompromising Windows and OSX compatibility

- Lynx is one of the few audio converter manufacturers that ensures full-featured, cross-platform compatibility even at the highest sample rates. Lynx is therefore excellently positioned when it comes to choosing your platform. All Lynx drivers are developed in-house. This results in their well-known compatibility and stability.

Honest and qualified specifications

- A lot of effort to be able to offer specifications that represent the entire audio signal path - not just those of the converter chip. The specifications that are published are conservative. These data are met or even exceeded. Specifications that are not supported by their test parameters, such as signal level, frequency, bandwidth, etc., are meaningless. It's easy to find a "sweet spot" in test measurements and brag about it. But this corresponds neither to reality nor to Lynx's claim.

100% reliable

- Lynx is known for its low failure rates. The converters are built entirely in Southern California to strict quality tolerances.

Superior product support

- Lynx owes its reputation as a leading manufacturer of audio converters to its support team. Fast, responsible and helpful support helps you to get your productions done quickly, safely and reliably.

What makes Aurora(n) converters so special:

- Independent converter structure - some manufacturers use chips with several converters. While this allows many converter channels to be packed into a small space and at low cost, it inevitably means that performance suffers. At Lynx, we design each channel's signal path as a self-contained and shielded entity. Each channel pair gets its own converter chip. This brings tremendous acoustic benefits and significantly increases dynamic range and performance while reducing crosstalk and distortion.

- Hilo Converter Technology (HCT) - Design and technology borrowed from the design of the Hilo. This significantly improves the specifications and transparency of the Aurora(n) compared to its predecessor. All details can be found here.

- Available with 8, 16, 24 or 32 channels of high conversion quality, all in just one height unit.

- Pioneering design: Configurable I/O

- Channel expansion - start with 8, 16 or 24 channels and add more later in groups of 8, up to a maximum of 32 channels.

- Modularity - Digital (AES3 and ADAT), mic preamp and analog summing modules will be available later this year. More modules are planned for later.

- Selectable connection technology - Thunderbolt, DANTE, ProTools|HD or USB via LSlot expansion cards.

- Functional expansion - via firmware updates. Just as we are doing for Hilo and Aurora, we will continue to expand the functionality of Aurora(n).

- microSD recorder/player - up to 32-channel real-time recording at 192 kHz and playback via its own converter. A 256 GB SD card, for example, allows up to 8.3 hours of recording and playback of 32 channels at 96 kHz. Samsung has announced a 1 TB SD card. The Aurora(n) even supports SD cards with a storage capacity of up to 2 TB.

- Brand new SynchroLock-2 "high-performance" sample clock technology - this is the next SynchroLock generation and offers an incredible jitter reduction of 300,000:1, only 5 seconds lock time, extremely low jitter and outstanding absolute accuracy. The Word Clock I/O has one input and three BNC-based outputs.

- Two separate audiophile headphone outputs - each with its own volume control.

The Lynx Aurora(n) audio A/D D/A converter is now fully compatible with Dolby Atmos. The new Dolby Atmos compatibility for the Lynx Aurora(n) is made available via a free firmware update, which all Aurora(n) users can find on the Lynx website.

The update includes a number of new features, for example, support for speaker configurations up to 9.1.6, 530 room correction filters in total and up to 16 filters per channel (including parametric, low-pass, high-pass and shelving filters), channel level and delay compensation, and comprehensive bass management with LFE channel. All this is implemented in hardware with 64-bit floating point accuracy!
