Description
Ever since the 1970's the iconic white woofer and signature sound of Yamaha's nearfield reference monitors have become a genuine industry standard for a reason - their accuracy. Unlike studio monitors with added bass or treble frequencies which may sound more flattering at first,
HS Series speakers were designed to give you the most honest, precise reference possible, providing an ideal sonic platform to build on throughout the mixing process. By combining acquired knowledge and expertise with state-of-the-art sound technologies, Yamaha's speaker engineering team have examined, then optimized, every aspect that has contributed to making these monitors the most trusted in the business.
The second generation HS Series also adds a new 6.5" model to the lineup, bringing its exceptional accuracy to an even greater variety of recording environments.

Quite happy with it
see my evaluation of HS7 monitor
Since the set is just two HS7, read the comment I wrote there
Great sound and value for money
Great sound and value for money. Some folks have complained that they are a bit trebly, but I don't find that at all. I had a bit of odd crackle and noise, but it was the old wiring in the house and using a power filter on the mains power fixed that.
Good standard monitors
Good frequency response. Suited for all purpose mixing. Build quality is OK (other monitors at this price range could be better or worse).
For the price, I would use these over the Rockit monitors.
Presonus also would be an option although I found they were better for Orchestral music as each instrument section is generally more present.
Best monitors for the money
You can't go wrong with this setup. The sound is amazing. Can't recommend it enough.
